The annual week-long foodie extravaganza known as Frederick Restaurant Week is right around the corner! And based on the sneak peek Taste Frederick Tour Guide Jackie Mercer got a few weekends ago, it’s cooking up to be quite a delicious event!

March 2-8, over a dozen Frederick area restaurants will be offering special lunch and/or dinner menus at prix fixe prices that can only be found during restaurant week. Making it the perfect time to revisit an old favorite or try something new!

For your planning purposes, prices are as follows:

2 Course Lunch $15.15 exclusive of tax, beverages & gratuity
3 Course Lunch $20.15 exclusive of tax, beverages & gratuity
2 Course Dinner $20.15 exclusive of tax, beverages & gratuity
3 Course Dinner $30.15 exclusive of tax, beverages & gratuity.

Restaurants can offer only lunch, only dinner or both and all of the details regarding which restaurants are participating and what menus each are offering can be found at www.FrederickRestaurantWeek.com.

Read on for Jackie’s recap of the sneak peek event!

We started with Distillery Lanes Cider Works - first was a Celebration Sparkling Cider followed by a special Hard Cider with choke berries made for Woodberry Kitchen and one more that I didn’t get the name of - all were quite notable and cider-y.
Next was Wine Kitchen - Winter Salad with honey roasted root vegetables, hazelnuts, craisins, frisee, goat cheese, pickled butternut squash, cranberry balsamic vinaigrette; Seaside Salt VA oysters with house-made cocktail sauce and mignonette - and an optional dash of their ghost pepper hot sauce which I added, and their Country Bread with a snippet of pumpkin bourbon butter.
On to Nido’s - Pear and walnut salad with gorgonzola; their signature white pizza; a short rib sandwich with caramelized onions and arugula; and lastly, spaghetti and meatballs, along with a jug of their house red to wash it all down with.
Last was JoJo’s - gluten-free hard cider was waiting for us along with a Deconstructed Yellowfin Tuna Taco with Dorito powder, corn nut dust and tomato tempura with an avocado lime sour cream, and then a Chicken and Spinach burger with swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo and fries accompanied by a Session IPA.
Standouts were the sparkling hard cider, the Winter salad (I’m not a big raw oyster fan), the white pizza, and the Tuna Taco. YUM!
So there you have it folks! If I were you, I’d start making reservations now, Restaurant Weeks is a pretty popular promotion. I’ve already made a couple myself at Vintage and Family Meal. Thinking about one or two more. Bon appetit!
**A huge thank you to the Tourism Council of Frederick County and the Downtown Frederick Partnership for inviting us to the preview event and for putting together Frederick Restaurant Weeks!
