I’m starting one of my New Years Resolutions for the blog a little early. I am going to start creating more meals using mostly (if not only) ingredients I’ve purchased in Downtown Frederick. Even though there is no actual grocery store within walking distance (there really should be) the several food markets located within the historic district really do offer a lot of options. I know I have been saved on several occasions by Firestone’s Market on Market when I was in desperate need of eggs and/or butter. And you could make one awesome charcuterie plate for last-minute guests from the offerings at Juliet’s Italian Market.
Focaccia Pizza
- Rosemary Herb Focaccia – Firestone’s Market
- Salami – Firestone’s Market
- Pizza Sauce – Juliet’s Italian Market
- Fresh Mozzarella Cheese – Juliet’s Italian Market
- Kalamata Olives – Juliet’s Italian Market
This served 4 people and was super easy. Simply, preheat your oven to 375 degrees and slice the focaccia in half down the long side (like a sandwich roll) giving you two pizza crusts. Then top both “crusts” with sauce and your choice of toppings and bake on a baking sheer until the cheese melts (just keep an eye on it.)
If you want to completely round out this meal serve your pizza with a green salad on the side and a nice glass of wine.
