I will admit, I was hesitant to visit this new spot on Patrick Street. There were mixed reviews floating around, but a good friend just could not stop talking about the original wings. Call me intrigued. Mr. Taste Frederick and I stopped by one Friday for lunch and split an order of 10 Rex’s original wings and a bacon avocado burger with cheese. The restaurant immediately got a few bonus points with their yueng & wing deal (meaning a free beer with our wing order!)
After just a brief wait, lunch was served.
The wings were well seasoned, but seasoned with what, I couldn’t tell ya. Don’t get me wrong, they were really good. But the original is an interesting spice mix, and I’d certainly order it again, but I could not for the life of me tell you what was in it. The blue cheese we ordered with the wings could have been a little more blue-cheesy, but paired nicely with the wings nonetheless.
It’s really hard to go wrong with a bacon & avocado cheeseburger, and at Rex’s it’s no different. The burger was good. The bacon and avocado made it awesome.
Ultimately, we’ll definitely be back for more. I think whatever opening pains that may have caused mixed reviews at first have been sorted out. And I definitely need a few more shots at those original wings, I’m determined to figure out what makes them so flavorful!
