Frederick Restaurant Week Sneak Peek
Our tour guide Duane got the chance to do a little early tasting of some of the restaurants that will be participating in this year’s Frederick Restaurant Week. It was actually a meal at Firestone’s Culinary Tavern during the inaugural Frederick Restaurant Week that inspired me (Sarah) to start blogging about Frederick’s food scene in the first place. So not only does the event mark a sort of anniversary in my journey as a foodie, but it is one of my very favorite weeks of the year because it provides such a wonderful opportunity to experience many of the area’s delicious restaurants are super-reasonable prices.
The day started at the Frederick Visitor’s Center where Alexander’s at Buckeystown and The Red Horse were waiting with samples from their menus. These restaurants are not within walking distance of downtown Frederick, but from there the group of area foodies and bloggers split up and headed out to a little walking food tour of their own.
Duane got to visit JoJo’s Tap House (there were exploding s’mores). He said the spicy bacon wrapped duck bite he tried here was his favorite taste of the day.
Next the group headed to Acacia for some tastes of their fusion fare.
Then the group visited Olive’s (a place Duane dines at often).
The day ended at Ayse Meze. The whole group of blogger’s reconvened at the new East Street restaurant, and a few more became brussels sprout fans. (If you haven’t tried the brussels from Ayse, you need to get on it.)
This year 22 restaurants will participate in Restaurant Week. You can enjoy 2-course and 3-course lunches for $15.13 and $20.13 respectively and 2-course and 3-course dinners for $20.13 and $30.13 respectively. I’d highly recommend making reservations (especially for dinner). In 2012 I dined at Sumittra Thai Cuisine, Brewer’s Alley, The Tasting Room, Olives, and Quynn’s Attic.
